Thermal Efficiency
"R" Ratings
The R-Value is a measure of a window's resistance to heat conduction.
The higher the R-Value, the higher the insulation. The U-Value
is the reciprocal of the R-Value. The higher the U-Value the more
heat loss you can expect from a window. Condensation Resistance
Factor- a higher value means less chance of condensation.

Low-E and Infinit-E glass
Low-E
is a invisable coating that separates heat from cold, substancially
reducing heating costs. Our standard 3/4" clear insulating
glass meets or exceeds industry standards for thermal efficiency.
We also offer an Infinit"E" option, which combines 3/4" insulating
glass with a Low-E coating and argon gas fill. In winter, this
Low-E and argon gas-filled combination takes advantage of the
sun's lower position in the sky and the free energy it radiates.
In summer, Infinit"E" blocks the transfer of heat into the home,
keeping it cooler.
Infinit-E argon-filled insulating glass functions much the same
as Low-E glass, except that it lowers thermal conductivity of
heat through the glass. Infinit-E argon-filled insulating glass
provides the maximun insulating performance available and the
quickest payback for your window investment. Back

Argon Gas
Argon
gas can be pumped into the sealed air space between the insulating
glass. This will reduce the conduction rate of the heat trying to
pass through the insulating glass. The gas is invisible so it will
not distort your vision while looking through your windows. The
gas should only be purchased in conjunction with Low "E"
glass because that will give you the greatest benefit. You need
the reflective power of the Low "E" to work in conjunction
with the argon gas.

Energy Saver
Edgewise
is the only single seal warm-edgeinsulating glass sealant system
to pass the DIN 1286 Part 2 test in the retention of argon gas.
Other warm-edge spacers claim to retain argon gas but have not passed
this critical standard.
Edgewise
warm-edge technology is the best seal found anywhere. It performs
better than conventional aluminum spacers and other sealing systems
such as silicon foam spacers and "U" channel steel spacers.
That's because Edge-wise has one of the longest and most consistent
moisture vapor transmission paths of any insulating glass edge-seal
systems on the market. It also has the most desiccating power of
the warm-edge seals.
The
benefits: moisture cannot enter between glazing units, which means
a longer-lasting seal, a longer-lasting insulating glass unit, and
fog-free windows.

NFRC
Label
Kasson
& Keller is proud to announce that all of our vinyl new construction
and replacement windows have been tested, rated and labeled for
the NFRC (National Fenestration Rating Council). Several new energy
codes require windows to carry the NFRC label and this label allows
home owners the opportunity to realistically compare the performances
of different vinyl windows. The quality and performance of all Kas-Kel
vinyl windows will convince consumers that our windows are simply
the best ones to buy.
Energy Star Compliance
The United States Department of Energy has introduced its new program
as part of their Energy Star program. It includes vinyl windows
and Kasson & Keller is now part of the Energy Star program.
Ask your local Kas-Kel dealer about this program or contact Kasson
& Keller for more information. Back
